My 1955 Sheldon EXL-56P Lathe

To cut threads in hardened M-2 punch pins you need sharp colbalt and light cuts. Note the chewed flats. <meh> I really need to get my surface grinder wired up. Watch the video. Also:

  • New cross slide nut - got the durabar, just need the time.
  • 5c Thru Collet  - have the tube for drawbar, need to get, adapt, fab nose protector and wedge. Why a 5c Drawbar? 'Cause i need to use reverse, a threaded spindle means danger. With this setup I have better QA in production and can thread away from the spindle for my camera work and tool post grind safely.
  • Stops for cross, left and right facing
  • Follow rest mods
  • Tool post grinder truing
  • Jumbo boring bar holder
  • Aluminum DRO and way covers
  • Tach
  • Chip shield
  • Cross slide lock cam and handle

See Sheldon history post for more about this lathe.
